Putian to Develop 4G Chips
November 10, 2005
Putian's Chongqing branch has teamed up with the Chinese Academy of Engineering to develop 4G chips intended for handheld devices. The two partners plan to develop eight samples for tests by the end of 2006, which will be followed by making them smaller and ready for commercial use in 2007. Eventually, Putian expects to achieve an annual production capacity of 100,000 4G RF ICs and baseband chips, and plans are being made to build facilities in Chongqing in order to be able to reach this capacity. Currently, investment for this development project is estimated at 50 million RMB, which will mainly come from the National Development and Reform Commission and several enterprises.
